You will be a great fit if you have experience similar to:

This position will assist with all screening trial activities in the Mid-Atlantic region during the summer of 2024 for the following crops:
• Tomato
• Pepper
• Squash
• Pumpkin
• Sweet Corn

Duties and responsibilities:
• Assist PD/TSR with sowing and transplanting's of assigned trials
• Create and share a field map for each trial set with assigned RTS manager utilizing assigned template.
• Make at least one preharvest visit to trial and provide information back to your assigned RTS manager including but not limited to:
o Trial maturity
o Trial overall health
o Estimated evaluation date
• Assist with the collection of phenotypic data in assigned crop screening trials utilizing assigned capture documents
• Manage harvest and yield measure in tomato trials up to 4 times using standardized measuring protocols
• Manage harvest and yield measure in pepper trials up to 3 times using standardized measuring protocols
• Manage harvest and yield measure squash trials 2X per week for 3 weeks using standardized measuring protocols
• Transfer data directly to assigned RTS manager for distribution to appropriate breeding teams.
• Support local PD team when needed and as requested with approval from assigned RTS manager.
• Special Project:
o Create and present an end of season trial summary for each assigned crop to stakeholders.
o Create and present a summary of internship learnings and knowledge to key stakeholders.
o Investigate and create a report of market trends for the region in assigned crops.

Job requirements

To be considered, you will need:

• Must be actively enrolled in college and working towards degree in Plant Sciences or related field
• Ability to travel throughout to alternate locations ( Mid-Atlantic) during the day
• Valid Driver's license, personal transportation, and good driving record
• English mandatory, Spanish a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for 1/4 mile in field conditions and be able to work 8 hours in extreme heat and high humidity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
